A classic logo that will be well and truly missed. Yorkshire Television made some of the best programmes ITV has ever shown and the Yorkshire Television logo was always a mark of quality.

Much loved and much missed logo of a once very sucsessful television station.

The brand was watched by millions of people since it's birth in 1968, axing the logo, sacking employees was a mistake by ITV.

Until 1974, Yorkshire Television served the three Ridings of Yorkshire and served by the Emley Moor transmitter. After a re-organisation, the area was extended to include Humberside & Lincolnshire, served by the Belmont transmitter.

YTV was formed in 1967, from a shotgun marriage between Telefusion Yorkshire and Yorkshire Independent Television, the former having large financial backing and the latter having the better plans.

YTV went on air on 29 July 1968 from purpose-built colour studios in Leeds, the first of their kind in Europe.

The license for the Yorkshire franchise continues to be held by Yorkshire Television Limited, part of ITV plc. However, on the 1st January 2007 and as a result of the restructuring of ITV, the company transferred its programme production business and Channel 3 broadcasting business to ITV Productions Limited and ITV Broadcasting Limited respectively. As a consequence Yorkshire Television Limited ceased to trade on the 1st January 2007.
