Aracely's Bakery Brand Identity

Brief from client
Well this logo is part of my portfolio and I'm fine tuning it for Portfolio Night on May 7. It is a redesign of a logo for a real bakery. They specialize in cakes, cupcakes, donuts. Their interior is strawberry and chocolate colored, but their existing logo is black, white, red and green...not a brand supporting look. I'll be searching for mockups while wait for feedback. Thanks so much for your thoughts. This will be a flagship piece for me, so I want to get it right.

Sorry, but I don't think this logo works.
First off, I read "racely's bakery". I always advise against incorporating the symbol in the text. 99% of the time, it screws with the readability and just complicates the whole thing.
Then these colors are really dull and unappealing. That neon pink on that dull light blue make my eyes sore. I would advise to create your logo on a plain white background and then when it's done come up with a badge version if you so choose.
I like the fonts you picked, they compliment each other pretty well. I would make the B of "bakery" a lower case, though, as I fine that upper case tend to make a word left heavy. But that's just me.
Globally, I think this logo needs more than just fine tuning. A major revamp is order, I'm afraid. Keep the fonts but rethink the rest. As it is, it's not something that will look good on a highly competitive Portfolio Night.
Keep it up and good luck!
Your explanation about "incorporating symbol into text" makes sense, its really difficult, but it was the assignment in this case. I'm attaching revised versions, one was the first iteration, (the solid pink), but the prof said it didn't work because the pastry bag was not "incorporated" enough into the logo. So taking another stab at it. Thanks for your comments.
Is it a school project? It may have been part of the assignment when it was given to you, but it doesn't have to be when you showcase it in your portfolio. the symbol as part of the text is a very tricky thing, that's why I tend to advise against it, particularly to student. But it's not impossible.
Also, now that I look at it, did you do something to the R in "Aracely"? It looks wonky compared to the other characters.
I sure hope that the project was to show you why you should never incorporate symbols into the words of logos. Otherwise that professor needs to be fired.
Ha! OK, interesting comment about the professor and the word mark. Soooooo any suggestions on how I COULD make this work?
Do some research. Look for bakery logos and similar businesses and try to figure out the different trends, patterns, etc... Check out www.dribbble.com www.logopond.com and get a Pinterest account, if you haven't already.
Then, grab a pen and a piece of paper and just sketch away until you find something viable.
Actual comment: Personally, if you are stuck on the icing bag idea, I would make the icing bag be at the end of the logo, so it looked like it piped the words out. :)
I agree with previous comments, incorporate a symbol in the text only generates confución for the logo.
The font seems good.
It may be a good idea sleeve at the end of the name.
the paresca text written with this object.
thanks to all. back to the drawing board.
