Arrowhead Lamp of Learning

Brief from client

According to the client: "I like University Crests (like UW Madison). I think the logo needs to be distinctive enough to be recognizable without words. The word Arrowhead could go beneath if that went with the design, but it is not necessary.

I would like the academic logo to combine our lamp of learning (which has an arrowhead incorporated in it) with our athletic A. I want them to look like the two logos go together, but are distinctly different."

This is their current logo: http://files.crowdspring.com/project_file/logo_122.jpg?AWSAccessKeyId=AK...

Client requested I bring in the color scheme of maroon / gold and black.

I usually don't like using gradients, but this was a request per the client.

I recreated the wings from scratch, since the monster blobs were not working. :)

The "cracks" inside the arrowhead are a requirement by the client, since this is a revamp of their old logo which contains the cracks as well.

Client also requested I change the A to a thinner, more academic-looking A.

Thanks for the tips Killswitch!

You've improved quite a bit. I share the same sentiment toward gradients, but...that can be easily managed. The cracks in the arrowhead don't bother me, now that it looks much cleaner.

I do think, however that the wings get too thin toward the bottom. Don't be afraid to have them go behind the arrowhead and widen them more.

I think you can reach a happy medium with the "A" as well. It looks *too* thin at the moment, and perhaps would look more natural if it extended beyond the outline of the arrowhead a bit.

You're nearly there. Great work so far.
