British Columbia Science Teachers' Association
Brief from client
BCScTA is currently looking for a strong branding message to convey to BC Teachers, science partners, community groups, political groups and other stakeholders.
The BC Science Teachers’ Association exists to:
-Promote excellence and innovation in science education throughout British Columbia
-Contribute to the improvement of curriculum and instruction in science education
-Provide recommendations and advice regarding science education
-Ensure that there is a clear and meaningful connection between science education and the needs of society today and in the future
Tried to do something related to British Columbia but it has a terrible flag & country outline, so used the sun from the flag as a symbol for enlightenment (it's actually a setting sun on the flag since BC is western canada, so probably a bad symbol!) & recycled an old owl drawing to make it more about knowledge & education.
The maple leaf feet & square root sign beak are a bit tacky, maybe they should go?

Ditch the feet- they are kind of odd looking. The beak isn't so bad, but I don't know if it will read "square root symbol" to most people.
Maybe the owls head needs to be slightly larger- looks a bit small compared to the body.
Great work! I agree with Joy about the feet/mapple leaf thing. It's a bit too on the nose and only complicates an otherwise pristine logo.
