Charity Creative

Brief from client

Logo design for my freelance design company. Charity is my last name. I'm not sold on whether I want to do a symbol or a word-mark logo. I do live in Southern California so I tend to like the surf/skate/snow logos.

Symbol of two letter "c" with CMYK reference.

I don't see the two C's in the symbol. I think the symbol needs a total rework. The left side of the whole design feels heavy in general and CMYK has been done and really conveys printing more than design.

CMYK has no relevance to anyone outside design & printing profession.
There is no real idea here that corresponds with your company name. Typography is clean and well executed but that is about it.
If you are in the 'creative' business you will have to find something better then this, sorry.

Thanks for your feedback Greg and Splashster. I will go back to the drawing board on this one. I tend to agree that the CMYK is more of a printing reference than a design or creative one. Being my first attempt that is the type of feedback I like.

I like what you've started here but agree the symbol makes the left side heavy and the symbol needs balance/ continuity. If you notice the ea in creative resembles your symbol somewhat. Using Illistrator, you could tweak those letter shapes into an iconic symbol that would be awesome. Or, replace the a with an upside down e and make that word your own by adding color to those shapes to create a unique identifiable symbol.
