Brief from client
We're stuck on ideas… very difficult to design our own logo as our team have so many ideas of their own. Here's the first.

I feel you're on the right track so far, but I'm confused as to why you added that line splitting the symbol, which I presume is supposed to be a lower case "A." Is there a double meaning I'm not seeing?
As a whole, everything looks okay. The only issue I see is there's excessive line spacing between the symbol, the bolded company name and the thinner subtext. And ultimately you'll want to somehow incorporate another letter or two in your symbol to make it make sense. Unless of course that isn't just a lowercase A, and it's really something else entirely.
I'll wait to rate your work with thumbs up/down until further information is given.
BIG thanks for the feedback. The idea of splitting the 'a' with the diagonal line was to split the elements of the letterform to show they could be used to create the individual letters of ams in their lowercase form… almost like a jigsaw. We tried it and it works, but admittedly it's fairly random! Agree the spacing is off and could do with some more work. Many thanks for your time on this.
I have to agree about the line spacing, it was definitely the first thing I noticed. Wayyy off with that. That's an easy fix though.
I like the fonts, they look good together. I am a bit curious about the symbol... What is it supposed to be? I mean, I like the way it looks, it's interesting to say the least, I just don't know what it is.
As mentioned in the initial comments:. We wanted a very abstract, simple image that could be accredited to our other brands… The idea of splitting the 'a' with the diagonal line was to split the elements of the letterform to show they could be used to create the individual letters of ams in their lowercase form… almost like a jigsaw.
