Gestos Nativos - logo
Brief from client
Company: Portuguese hand painted tiles called "gestos nativos" that roughly translated means "native gestures"
Briefing: In the client words: "I don´t know, make someting classic and elegant, someting portuguese, traditional but... I don´t know, do your thing"
- Like the customer asked, i´ve added a little red on the logo
- Changed the font for a more rounded / calligraphic version... although i didn´t used the original design of the font cause i changed the ligations between letters. I think that a caligraphic font represents better the company work (hand painted tiles) plus, if the client needs to use a horizontal version (simbol+tipography) it works a lot better.
Tomorrow i´ll give it a second look for some changes that i can´t see today. I want to give a big THANK YOU for everyone that is helping me improve:

Much better!!
As for the font, it matches the symbol pretty well but I can't help but feel it looks a bit dated. Maybe try a more modern, probably sans serif font, to create contrast. Just see how it looks. If it don't, keep looking for other cool fonts. Here are a few sites you can peruse on: www.fontsquirrel.com www.losttype.com www.dafonts.com (you probably already know this one, but be careful, there are a lot of crappy fonts in there as well pretty good one)
I took the time to circle where the curves could be fine tune some more. It's very subtle, but there is still some room for improvement. For the mast, make sure that its lowwer part matches the curvature of the big sail.
You are almost there!!
Thank you so much for all the work you had pointing those details. I´ll work on them, for the font, although i´m not unhappy with the actual font, i will search for a better one, i really need to improve my type skills for become a better designer. Thank you!
It's always a pleasure to help a designer who knows how to take a fair critique ;)
I remember your JCF logo from a couple of years ago. You already had pretty good skills back then. Keep getting better!!
I don't know why, but I am for some reason seeing the font as being more successful as some sort of slab-serif. Perhaps I am wrong.
The symbol itself is awesome and definitely very close.
It may just be this site, but the blue color feels a bit oversaturated. Notice how the blue in Shawali's comment is more muted. I wonder if the company uses specific blues when they paint the tiles?
Overall great work!
Loving how the ship is coming along! I'm on the fence about the font- it looks nice, but I agree there may be a better one out there. However, should the N be capitalized too?
Thank, i´m working on it :D
No, for this company the N must be on lower case,
