It's not a very original idea. You need clean up the illustration. It's a little bit all over the place at the moment. The typeface isn't so nice, looks old.

Mediocre idea and execution. Symbol is very spiky with wiggly worms all around, can you tone this down to something not so aggressive or just scrap it and start over?

The whole balance of the logo is pretty messed up - i look at it and I'm not really sure where my eyes should rest, so they tend to be drawn to the very middle which is just white space.

It's like you've tried to incorporate too many different ideas into it - you've got the sun, the wave, the crossed swirls. For a start I'd try putting the sun behind the text / just above it, and losing the crossed swirls under the sun.

Also not keen on the typography, serif fonts are usually quite classy and elegant, yet this one is too curvy, and coupled with the bevel field makes it go a bit all over the place.

Sorry to throw so much criticism at ya, best of luck!

criticism is much appreciated...client like this and won't listen to my suggestions so I thought I would solicit other opinions to show them.

try to remove the waves above "LAKES AREA....." and play only with two solid colors.
