Logo of "Arabic Translator" startup
Brief from client
Translation agency, looking for simplicity and attractiveness. The logo should be modern and catchy. No specific color preferred. The startup is going global and will travel to international trade exhibitions, so the design should not look like an amateur work, it should be strong and perfect, to stand among competitors.
I choose a simple and modern font. The name says it all so no need to complex writing styles.
As for the colors, I browsed hundreds of logos of translation companies, and found that most of them are either red, green or blue. So I decided to take a different direction and chose purple with pink.
As for the icon, I also noticed that translation is always symbolized by alphabetical letters, Chinese or Japanese letter, arrows, earth, paper, pencil, ... etc. I decided to go abstract and find something that can reflect translation in an indirect way. The flying was the best image I could think of "translation takes you from place to other, it allows you to sell your product in another country, ...etc". I used a bird icon in the beginning, then it looked like twitter :) Then chose wings, and it looked like an airline logo, then finally decided to take the paper plane. I think it looks nice.

I don't think this logo works. Mainly because it's bland and generic. To be frank, I thought at first it was a spam, like those we get daily.

Also, I think the relation with the whole translation business is a stretch. A paper plane says "travel" in a more concrete way. You can't really go "abstract" with something which is strongly indentified with something else.
I think there much more you could do with this type of client and that paper plane thing doesn't do it justice.

I think you should just start over with some new sketches that address the idea of converting something into something else. But my general feedback on second logo: no strokes on type, no drop shadows and what do balloons have to do with translating? And the font does not look professional at all.
Logo typographically not work. The Harabara typography is very common, besides Helvetica is plagiarism.
You might want to check what "plagiarism" really means, because there's no none here.
