The client wanted a redo of their previous logo - https://scontent-b-ord.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpa1/v/t1.0-9/1185694_702143...

This made me through up all over my keyboard it was so horrible the audacity to post this offends me so much. THE S DOESN"T HAV A SHADOWW O H MY GUCCI
This is a serious place for critique and discussion. If you have nothing constructive to contribute, see yourself out.
:c
If you're going with the 3D shadow effect, you should include it on the upper portion of the S as well.
Your logomark is much larger than your type. I would arrange the elements to strike a healthy balance. As of right now, there is too much weight on the symbol itself. The subtext is even tinier, which could also be problematic.
Address these issues, and let's see where you stand after that. Good luck.
Interestingly enough, the client actually asked for the S to stay unshadowed.
The client chose this as a final product, and I was just interested in seeing opinions
The logo is usually used on its own, but this is a header of the business cards.
Well, in that case it doesn't do much good to critique. The purpose here is to provide feedback for improvement. Regardless of our opinions, the logo has already been decided upon.
It's too bad this is the final mark, because it really needs some TLC.
It looks way better than the original one, looks a bit retro. Without the tagline and company name, I can dig it! But killswitch is right, the upper part of the S should also have a shadow.
And you also need to find more balance indeed, logo graphic is too big now.
A graphic designer should be able to direct the client and give them feedback as to why something doesn't work. Early on, I would give a client three distinct directions. Invariably, they would pick the one I liked the least. I don't send anything out that I wouldn't be proud of seeing on a billboard 50 feet high.
