Brief from client
• Napa Brewing Company is a craft brewery. We make very high quality beers.
• The beer industry is fun so we don’t want to be too serious. However, we want to portray the image of high quality.
• Napa Brewing Company is a reliable product and has a real sense of place.
This is a little busier than I usually make a basic logo. But, I thought it would work across the board- bottle caps, labels, t-shirts, etc.
Just a first draft.. so let me hear it.

This has potential. However I can detect a few problems - you have too many small light yellow start and your Napa drawing looks like a torn sock.
Typography and color scheme are great but I think you will have to play some more with the other elements to make it look good.
Yeah.. the stars were last second. I knew I would get some sh*t for that :)..That was the "busy" I referred to in the description.
About the sock... That is California, with a star on NAPA. They are really hippy skippy happy that they are from NAPA, so that is that. But, what can I do about the shape? Cali is Cali.. not much I can do about that. Very recognizable here.. I know you are in Hippyville, Netherlands : )- so maybe it isn't as recognizable and looks out of place? Or am I just totally off point on that?

i think it looks well decent....the only problem i have is the lil stars on the side...if splashter didn't mention them i wouldn't know they were there. Other than that...nice job
I knew the stars were gonna get flak.. I think that's why I made them so light. Felt like it needed something that I couldn't put my finger on. Clearly that wasn't it. :P
What's your opinion on the sock/Cali element?

i don't have a problem with it...like you said, can't do much with cali shape...altho there is always a creative way to represent something...i think my only problem is the stars outside...the dark reddish background maybe add something there to not look so empty but if you leave it like this also i would still like it...it has that brooklyn beer feeling, probably why i like it...i see a amber color beer with this label...if its pilsner beer i will change my rating btw!!! haha
What if you "bleed" California a little bit? just like you extend "NAPA BREWING CO."
Same opinion about the stars. Maybe they don't belong there... or anywhere in this logo.
I think the stroke around Cali and around "NAPA.." should be the same width.
