Brief from client

something slick that would appeal to 20-30 somethings. for internet/ social media management firm.

I went through a lot of iterations. client was firm about wanting an arrow that looked like it was going forward (passing others)

did a ton of sketches and iterations, refining on this one, my final concept. just wasn't sure about the typograpy.

To me it resemble a road sign that shows that you can swirl from a left lane into a middle one.

I am pretty sure that it is supposed to look exactly like one of those!

it's a common used military term. for passing one on the road, so, that fits.

cool. The client is actually super happy with what I came up with. He felt like I nailed it. I honestly wasn't sure about the type though. looking for feedback on that more than anything.

You should try different fonts and see which one will go with a symbol. Also, I was thinking about making an arrow in perspective that sort of coming out from you and pointing to a horizon to give that idea of yours " going forward " more dynamics. Hope that it will help. Good thing that a client likes it.

I know that I'm a stickler for this, but you said you weren't sure about the type. You really need to take some time and address the kerning. Some letter pairs are really pretty wide open like the 'yo' and the 'rk', while others, like the 'ft' are really tight. Unfortunately, font companies don't put much, if any, time into setting up the kern pairs. The result is sloppy letter spacing. You can't use it the way it rolls right out of the font...you have to go in and kern it yourself. I think this will make you feel much more confident about the type.

One other question...I see you have a noise texture in the solid blue. Will you be able to hold this clearly through all required applications? I think this logo would be just as strong if it were all solid blue, and would be much less of a headache to reproduce.

I changed the gradient. got rid of noise
