Brief from client
Hello,
I am a graphic/ Ux designer. After a long time in the field it suddenly struck me that I don't have a logo of my own despite making so many for others. So I sat down and worked on my very own logo.
C&C appreciated. thanks

Are those supposed to be CYM colours?
Is there any particular meaning of the circles?
It's pink, blue and yellow. Yes the colours and symbols have a personal meaning attached with it
The first thing got to my mind was printing.
How can I improve the mark?
If both the symbol and colours means something to you personally then it is difficult to give any remarks. I do not have a problem with the symbol, although it does not mean anything to me (at least I could not relate). I think if you like those colours maybe you can explore a little more to find the perfect shade that will work better on a white background, right now they are not really working on white.
Is the orange intentional as well? It seems to be the "odd color out" since the yellow and cyan remained the same.
You have an interesting symbol, but I would work on the colors a bit. The pastel look might look on black just fine, but it's hard on the eyes on white. Try making them a shade or two darker.
thank you for the critique. I wasn't too happy with the values either, however I wish to keep the colors as they have a personal attachment for me. I intend to tweak the cyan and yellow as well, I'm looking for the right colors.. the last two missing pieces :)
I will definitely play around with the tones as you suggested.
Cheers!
I think to say, "the colours and symbols have a personal meaning attached with it" and "they have a personal attachment for me" makes this less a logo and more a personal piece. IMHO
They don't say anything to us as the viewer or to the prospective client - - especially if you are billing yourself as a UX designer, I think you need to be willing to explain what the user is supposed to be experiencing.
And if the colors don't appeal to you, but have personal meaning - then maybe they should be painted in your home not used in the logo for the world.
those are my thoughts, which could TOTALLY change if you were willing to explain the mark and/or the colors, but to just say 'it's personal' doesn't do enough for a brand mark to be effective.
I agree, but then again if my mark doesn't intrinsically connect with me then why bother having it. I don't expect prospective clients to question the specific color choices.. however I wonder if the mark as a whole is good or bad.. could you comment on that?
Thanks
The thing is, your personal logo should reflect good design practices, not simply your own tastes. With that said, it's important to bear in mind that both good design and personal preferences should align with each other, not become mutually exclusive. Considering that, I'm sure there's a way to achieve both without sacrificing what "connects with you."
Your idea is fantastic! I think with a few small changes this will be fantastic! The symbol is too big for the word "Jenson" and the type for that word is just okay. It isn't special. I think it should be bigger in context to the symbol, perhaps bolder. Just something to make it more interesting. The Symbol is good, the only thing that needs improvement is the use of the colors, especially in the "overlap" shapes on the inner circles. Try mixing the colors in a more interesting way. A few simple changes and this is something simple and professional. Overall great job! Keep it up!
