Raptor Fasteners

Brief from client

Create a logo that demonstrates the power and strength of a new range of timber screws and nails.

The logo had to communicate strength and power whilst being a bit quirky. It also had to stand out against more well known DIY brands hence the strong colours and graphics.

Well I see strength and power alright, but when I look at it, I think" energy drinks" before anything else. Very Monster Drink-ish, especially with these claw marks.

Definitely not a fan of the font and the terrible kerning doesn't help.

I think you need to rethink this one.

Good luck!

So... what kind of raptor are you trying to show here? Is this to represent the bird of prey kind of raptor, or the veloci kind of raptor.

Because neither kind of raptor would actually leave claw marks like that.

Those look like bear claw marks if anything... and left handed bear claw marks no less.

I agree with the above, it's derivative. But if you're locked in to this concept, You should change the claw marks, so that each is not just a different size version of the one next to it. The claw marks were clip art, weren't they? You should draw your own.

It looks as though you tried to draw the lettering of RAPTOR yourself, instead of using a font, which I commend the effort for. However, the strokes are uneven and a bit sloppy, especially on the bars of the "T" (the left and right do not match). The descender on the R looks a bit thin.

As for the colors, black and yellow are strong but if you're trying to stand out from the crowd, consider that many leading tool manufacturers use those colors as well:
