Sophisticated

Brief from client

I just wanted to make up a logo for a fictional clothing store.

Alright! So here is my second revision (worked on it off and on). I also forgot to mention last time that this clothing brand is unisex so I'm trying to keep it from being too masculine or too feminine. I made it more rounded and not so pointy or edgy. I still have the cat being a part of the text but not as connected as last time. I'm open to colors and may actually flirt with some a bit but I wanted to get it down in black and white first. I also have a few versions but I felt I should upload this one first. Please let me know what you think!

MUCH better than the other version, and I like the way the 'S' forms the tail of the cat.

My main issue with it is that at thumbnail level, I can't tell what the symbol is. It didn't look like a cat to me. When you come onto this website, you see all the logos as thumbnails (as you know) and it's a good litmus test for a logo as to whether it works at the thumbnail level.. and this one doesn't.

I think that the cat needs to be reworked to look more instantly recognizable when scaled down and it also currently looks strangely postured in my opinion.

I'm not a fan of the type either. It doesn't say sophisticated to me and the 'clothing' needs to be aligned with the far edge of the 'D' at least as it currently doesn't look aligned to anything. I could carry on with the critique of the type, but think you've got other big issues to address first.

Keep at it. It's a big improvement on the last version and statistically, the next version or the one after will be the winner.. right!? ;)

Thanks man! Yeah I should have trusted the gut but I noticed it being difficult to view at thumbnail level. Thought I had it aligned on the right too but of course I did it to a different version but yeah I'll rework the cat to stand out stronger and work on font for sure. I'm hoping the next version will be the one...lets see..

Definitely keep the "S" shape with the cat's tail. But yeah, the symbol is far too small for the landscape of the entire logo. Definitely on the right track, just make sure you're giving the symbol enough attention.

I think you would be better served using a less detailed cat that was in complete profile for this.
Much improvement though!

Totally agree with everyone else! Just focus on the cat and make sure it's the absolute best you can make it! and make it bigger then see where that leaves you with the text

I see a little of the Baby Phat Logo so be careful with that too!
