Brief from client
Company annual event honoring businesses in our community with "Swagger" (i.e. businesses that have taken initiative to expand, invest and add jobs). 1950's "Mad Men" themed event this year and logo designed around the theme.
The sample graphics sent to the designer were pop art ads from the 1950's and 1960's. We liked a green Sprite ad and emphasized our appreciation of that layout with the designer. This is not a company logo, but a logo to promote an event. We would appreciate any feedback from other designers on the quality of the logo - we were not given the opportunity to send revisions to the designer, so this was our one and only shot at the design.

You're going in the right direction but you stopped way too early! =)
Push it way further than that.
I agree there is still work that needs to be done, and possibly fix the spacing on 3rd annual and awards they are not spaced in the circle well.
This is a 'throw together in a minute' thing, but I think this is what Monito is talking about and I heartily agree. Use a stronger font and have it more centered left right within the circle AND more centered vertically in the circle.
