Sorry, this isn't at all working.

First and foremost, your curved text looks way off. Coupled with italicized lettering, it looks crooked and doesn't seem to follow the shape of the circle.

Secondly, the circle doesn't even contribute to the design at all. The stitched/dashed border gives it a very amateruish look.

Next, the type needs an overall. They don't compliment each other, or even the design. The top font is a no-go for me because of the out of place drop shadow that it comes with, and it's simply uninteresting.

The head has got no breathing room. It appears very cramped in the circle, another reason why those have got to go. I would also experiment more on the tentacle shapes. They look more like thick vines at the moment.

To conclude, this still looks very rushed. I can tell you're still a learning designer, so hopefully you take my feedback as constructive. I wish you luck in the next versions.

Did you draw the head yourself? I think it is clip art, which isn't a good design plan, I am sorry.

If you are going to do arcing text, use a circle, the same one, for all the items, so they do not look different. I am not sure, is the bottom line stretched instead of typed on an arc?

Finally, Algerian Font. Please don't use that. It will give your designs an amateurish look pretty much instantly. Algerian font is the bane of self published fantasy novels the entire world over, trust me on this! :)

Here is a list of fonts. I will not say to never use them, but... I will suggest never using them.

Finally,
You will get my list of things to do. For first logos especially.
1. Research. - Look at logos. A bunch of Logos. Then some more logos.
2. Brainstorm - Take the company name, as well as some of things that represent them. Branch off from them, even if it doesn't make sense. Spend a good 30 minutes.
3. Pair the words, or pick words you really like. It doesn't need to make the best sense, or be from the same tree. If you have Dinosaur + cowboy - hey go for it. Your logo doesn't literally need to be a man with tentacles coming from his head.
4. Sketch some ideas. I would say about 6 of the pairs.
5. Pick the three that are working the best. Spend time on them. Sketch and refine.
6. Refine more.
7. Refine more more.
8. Turn on your computer.
9. Take the best of each of those 3 ideas and scan them in.
10. Bring us those 3 ideas.
11. We will help you from there. :)
But no computer work until we see some sketches! ^-^

Fail. Massive fail. Waffles & Kill are being very diplomatic but I'd like to say, just quit now.

Or maybe they're just not being dicks.

If you have nothing constructive to say, don't bother leaving a comment. Let's try to be adults here, this is not 4chan.

Many apologies, but I have already spent some constructive time commenting on their previous submission… a tracing of David Beckham… and we were provided with this as a follow up. Shawali, I am a grown up and was treated with considerably less respect than the tone of my previous comments when I was at art college. Our design lecturer used to tear down the work we pinned to the 'actual' wall in the studio and stamped on it. Perhaps now I'm 'virtually' behaving like this but sometimes a fairly 'brutal' critique can be the encouragement we need to re-think our process. To suggest I'm being a 'dick' is inappropriate considering you are moderating these posts.

Waffle's and Killswitch's feedback are dead on. And yet very constructive.

I'll just say that you want to stay as for as possible from using fonts like Algiers, which are the basic fonts you find with any copy of Windows. They have no place in a professional design.

I understand that you are a beginner. Don't worry about the negative feedback, you're just at the start of a great journey. I remember my first logos, and they maybe worst than this one =)

Always start with a good fix of inspiration from other designers logos. Check out sites like www.logopond.com, www.dribbbe.com and get yourself a Pinterest account.

Also, I cannot stress enough how important the sketching part is. I'll go further than Waffle in saying that you need to sketch a few hundreds ideas. This is for me the most crucial part of the whole design process. It's rarey a good idea, especially for a beginner, to straight up jump the shark and start doodling around on your computer. Sketching will give you much more organic results.

Keep it up!!
