Brief from client
This charity supports children in Senegal, Africa, funding for education, food and clothing etc. Currently aiming for funding to build a Child Care Centre.
Example of horizontal orientation, I have created a vertical as well. I believe the hand print concept is working well but the execution is not quite there? Have shortened title to UK Talibe Project other wise too long, I don't think UKTP says anything about what it is.
Any thoughts would be welcome.
Thank you!

The handprint is neat but it's so much larger than the text that it takes over and will really cause you problems when you start using it scaled down. You'll see the hand but not much else. I like the colors you've used here but that subtext font could also problematic. I'm interested to see your other version.
Thanks Jon.
Yes I think I agree, I was nervous about losing the African shape within the hand print, so went overboard and made it too large. The vertical is attached here. I will give the concept a re-think also and re-post a new version altogether.
You know, I actually missed that the first time around. I love it! What about stacking "UK TALIBE" above project? That might enable you to maintain the size of both the text and symbol.
Why not make Africa half of the palm? The shape is perfect for that.
I'm not a fan of the gradients. Or I would have at least the same gradient all over the symbol.
Not so sure about the textured font for the subtext.
But this logo definitely has potential.
I was so distracted by the hand symbol being the international symbol for "STOP" that I didn't even notice Africa.
Thanks all, really helpful feedback.
I think the issue is that the African shape is not immediately clear, so making Africa half the palm I think would work it helping bring this concept to life.
The subtext font is chalkboard, I probably deserve a slapped wrist for that, it's going!
Thanks again, I will post a revised version soon.
I recognized the African continent right away, as a matter of fact, I've used this same concept in the past. I do enjoy the gradient colors as they introduce the colorful heritage without any fussing around. The chalk-like sub text is a tad bothersome. What I like about the arrangement is the simplicity, and the hand drawn text introduces another logo-like element, which is not needed in this case.
