Vetapuncture Animal Acupunture

Brief from client

Dog, Cat, Ying yang, leaf.

I am not here for a critique per say, more just on advice on how to add more detail to my design. I am pleased with the overall look and idea of the design, I just feel it needs some more detail so it doesn't look so flat.

Yes but no =)

I like the idea behind it, but the symbol needs some tweaking. The cat silhouette looks weird. From the thumbnail version, I thought it was some kind of french bulldog or something.

Also, the curves forming the neck of the cat and the dog don't properly match the one of the green part.

I like how the leaf comes about though, though it's inner curve could use some fine tuning.

Globally, the one thing that bugs me is that I don't see any idea of acupuncture in that symbol.

I don't think you need more details or that this logo looks too flat. I'm not a fan of this composition where the symbol totally overpowers the brand mark.

The choice of typeface is ok, but you need to fix that kerning. And I'm not a fan of the all caps subtext. I would probably look for a different yet complimenting font.

You're onto something cool here, but you just need to maybe rethink it a bit and spend more time on the details you have instead of adding some new ones.

Good luck!

overall i like where this is going, but you need to work on the symbol.
The text looks way too small compared to your symbol. I would change both or just the subtext.

I'm not sure if the stripes in the back are really necessary?

I agree with what Shawali pointed out. The dog and cat do get lost in the logo, but you can certainly pick them out with a bit of effort. I think if you let them poke out a bit like you did with the leaf, it may help. thicker lines in the negative space might be helpful. Just some more breathing room in general. Notice how the leaf pokes out a bit, you could follow suit with the animals' ears or something.

I think the typography is okay, it just seems a bit small in relation with the symbol. And yes, the kerning should be checked out as well.

Seriously, great idea. I look forward to see what you do with this moving forward.

Shawali nailed it. You have something really great here, it just needs tweaking. There is the nod to eastern medicine/philosophy with the yin/yang you created.

For as simple as this logo seems you have a lot happening, leaves/green, yin/yang, dog/cat. Fantastic idea, The cat not quite fitting is the only item that really jumps out at me.

Over the years I have seen so many vet logos, with the same horse/dog/cat heads, this is a refreshing take.

Sorry, but I do not find a dog here. All I see is a cat that flexed around leaf grooming his front paw. Bottom line - there is nothing here that visually leads to acupuncture business. I think that you need to come up with a clever way to tied that up. Good luck.

I am going to say this. You are wrong. Your critique lacks the eye of a actual designer and you need to maybe take a couple classes. That's just my opinion, the fact you can't see the dog also makes me question your ability to differentiate shapes. You are lesser designer then I and I do not need a critique from someone who wishes they were a artist. Find a new hobby. Good Luck.
