World Cup FIFA Russia 2018 entry logo design

Brief from client

FIFA organizing committee was a client and their demand was to make a logo for upcoming World Cup in Russia to include their trophy as a mandatory symbol/element. I decided not go in that direction and made a logo out of a soccer shoe with a national flag served as folded tongue and eleven studs on a bottom of the shoe represents 11 players on the field and 11 host cities. Bottom of each stud made in a shape of a heart. Soccer field behind a shoe consists of 9 stripes in regards to a 9 different time zones in Russia.

Soccer shoe with a national tricolor flag served as folded tongue over, eleven studs at a bottom of the shoe resemble eleven players on a field / eleven host cities were games will be held. Each stud has a heart at the bottom shows a love of the game and hospitality of the people of Russia. Soccer field behind a shoe consists of nine stripes representing 9 different time zones.

It took me a few seconds to realize that it was a football shoe. It looks like it's ready to crush the competition with its nuclear head looking crampons. Maybe very à propos vis-à-vis Russia's actual president, but it's not the message you want to give.

That being said, using a shoe as a symbol is something that hasn't really been seen, thought I'm not an expert on World Cup logos, let alone football. But this iteration right here isn't working for me.

Keep it up!

i agree, another thought....if you wanna use the "FIFA" ...at least use their logo with the real font! not one you made up
