  • Clem Jones Tunnel (CLEM7) is Brisbane’s first major road tunnel. The 6.8kilometre CLEM7 is being delivered on behalf of Brisbane City Council by Queensland toll road company, RiverCity Motorway Group.

    Scheduled to be open in 2010, the tunnel will link to five existing major motorways and arterial roads on the north and south sides of the Brisbane River which together carry 400,000 vehicles every day.

    The 6.8 kilometre toll road includes twin, 2–lane 4.8 kilometre tunnels.CLEM7 is the first critical component of the Brisbane Lord Mayor’s TransApex vision that aims to reduce deficiencies in the City’s urban road network.

    CLEM7 is also the first section of the new M7 motorway in Brisbane. The M7 is due to be completed in 2012 following the construction of the 6.7km Airport Link tunnel. The M7 will provide a direct link from Woolloongabba to the Airport and the growing northern suburbs.

    Brisbane City Council, in partnership with RiverCity Motorway Group, has committed to delivering this vital piece of infrastructure to the Brisbane community by October 2010.
