Digital Theatre came to us with a name, a way of filming live theatre and not much else. They needed an agency that could transform this into an operating business. That could build the strategy, do the logo design and branding, and create the website, advertising and promotion all from scratch.
We took the unemployed filming technology and turned it into a revolutionary way to experience live theatre. Taking something which has traditionally been fairly inaccessible and making it available to everyone, whenever they want it.
Our inspiration for the brand came from a product truth – for the first time the technology used to film the shows could transport the viewer into the theatre, making them feel like they were actually there. So for people who want the real experience, but on their own time, Digital Theatre can help them ‘get closer’ to it.
We started by creating the logo, because in the absence of anything else it had to tell a story in itself – we wanted it to be evocative both of the ancient roots of the auditorium, the technical expertise of Digital Theatre and the buzz of live performance. And once we had developed this we could generate everything else out of it.
From literally nothing, digitaltheatre.com is now being accessed by over 80 countries worldwide. Allowing all these people to experience something they otherwise wouldn’t have been able to. It is also shortly going to play a major role in the education system introducing students to the theatre.
