Looking at the 3 versions you have created, I think you're struggling with this and I can't blame you, it's tough.

The icons you have created are very generic and have a whiff of stock imagery to them. It's not easy avoiding this type of icon with this subject, so I would ditch it and concentrate on the text (at least for now). The name is long and clunky, so I think you need to think making the text more legible and interesting. There are 3 very quick examples below. The middle example looks a bit like an arm reaching out.

Once you've got a good layout, you can think think about the colour and details/icons you might want to add. It doesn't have to be much, just a simple connection between two letters could do it.

...oh and as always, sketch with a pencil!

if you use the first one of your examples it could be a very cool thing....

Thanks for the comment. It has been a struggle. The client said that they were looking for more of an icon than text logo. The word outreach is the main focus. Trying to accomplish that with out it looking "stockish" and be readable has been a struggle.

Here are two previous ideas I had not put up yet along the idea you suggested.

If you client wants an icon, that's fine. I just think you need to get rid of the colour and symbol for now, as the name is long and needs some thought.

Also, clients sometimes don't realise what they want until you tell them :)

You have to tell them what they want. What they really really want. ;)

Dude "Grapevine" is your main word, others must be some kind of subtext. There is dozens "connected people" in circle logos. I can recommend you to use mindmaps to generate new ideas, u can google it.
