I really think I would go with humor or irony on this. I would make the whole logo as elegant as humanly possible. Make it look like the Ritz- I think it would get a much better response than the straight forward approach. I would stay there just because of it. "Potato" hotel is just so ridiculous you may as well go all the way.

I definitely agree with G13. Make this piece look as elegant as possible and add a simple abstract mark as this will give it a whole new feeling. Unless the actual company would prefer potato chips as you've done.
