Brief from client 

The company is considering updating this logo, in use over 20 yrs. Patriotic, very active 55+ in primarily military community. Private, secure golf community.

They have hired a designer to recreate the logo, but I as the graphics person on staff, do NOT like the ideas. I have taken it upon myself to inquire for a re-design. The committee hopes to use an eagle in the new logo.
I disagree as it, like Palm trees, are way over used.

This logo is indeed terrible. Way too many elements, all of them clip arts.

I do hope they'll agree on a new redesign. Tell them that Shawali from BotW said that =)
