This is clean and neat, with crisp lines. While at face value that seems alright, I think with a name like "Split End" it should be scruffy-lookin'. Try something hand drawn... a little sloppy and unkempt. The text too, not just the logo.
If you're going to keep with this idea, the only other thing I'd say is to nudge your copy a little to the right, it's crowding the logo a bit near the "S".
I dont like the black outline in the orange letters!!!! I just think its a little bit outdated ... and not like "vintage" but just not modern, if you are dealing with film and digital media it must be a little bit more magic ( you know the magic of cinema). And I have a question: is the icon a strand of hair ??? i looks too me like it and damaged hair is not appealling
There are many things that could be done to improve this, but one simple thing to do would be to put the split end on the 'S'. This will also improve the usability, as it's an awkward shape at the moment.
The symbol and text are clean and the colors look good. The idea of a split hair is not appealing, but is one of the few concepts that would work well with the name. Usability is limited due to the negative space below and to the left of the logo, however, and I'd suggest rotating, repositioning, or otherwise altering the symbol so that it doesn't leave so much space unused.
This is not working at all for me. Globally, it looks really dated as it has been pointed out? And I agree with Lark, you have a major problem of composition, making your logo very unpractical.
