This seems too complicated. I don't think you need the shadow lines. Where the J loops into the N creates a weird tension point. The I and J are enlarged letters (when you enlarge a letter it increases the stroke width, and no longer matches the rest of the lettering) - this is a pet peeve of mine.
If you don't mind me asking- did you create this lettering? Or is it a font?

Thanks for the advice! And no, I did not create this from scratch, it's a font.

I agree with Joy here. The shadow line has to go because it's getting in the way of good legibility.

You need to work on your ligatures. Particularly with a scripted font or type, you need to link these characters. Also be weary of not having too much buckles and loops, as they can also deteriorate the readability. In your case, the a looks bit too much like a "ce" and the buckle in the n creates a tension with the following g.

I like what you tried to do with the g and j, but it's not really working, mainly because of that n and its damn buckle )à The elongated leg is also way too close from the G. Loosen it a bit.

Keep it up!
