mystique boutique

Brief from client
women's clothing store - hip, urban, bohemian- brand colors are red, and gold, wanted something floral or "leafy". narrowed it down to 2 from 4 I showed her.
one of the main factors that went into this is that I wanted to make something that would be natural to put on clothing tags, etc. and appeal to wide age range- 20-45 yr old women.

This logo has some really potential. Congrats for going full organic =)
Now my main beef is that for now, it isn't super readable, especially in small size (ie the thumbnail version) For exemple, the Y in "mystique" is difficult to make out, as it's squeezed between the M and S.
Also, I find the two hand lettered word a bit too stiff. They should be more flowing along the leaf's curvature.
Good job so far, keep it up!
thanks for the encouragement. I find your advice super helpful. I want the lines on the text to remain jagged, because I feel it feeds the bohemian feel, and the challenge is making it legible. Spacing will go a long way, as you said, and also beefing up some letter parts.
and yes, I need some curve in there! it seems just stuck on top of the leaf, I see that more now. thanks.
I think there are some better fonts in this same style that are a bit more legible. I also like how it extends off the leaf to the right, it pretty much does at the top too- so why not make "boutique" extend off on both sides too? I think that could be a nice element.
Pssst, it's not a font, he drew the character all by himself =)
Oh my sincerest apologies!!
Kudos to the brave hand-lettererer!!!!!
=)
I also thought it was a font when I first saw it because the u's are identical (the two last ones in each word).
that's because I cheated. The U i drew in the end of boutique didnt look right at all once I got it digital. but you'll notice the first u in that word is different. Good eye though.
but yes, I made this font by hand in watercolor.
Just give that second 'u' a bit of a tweak and I think it will help!
hoping to post newer version this week
