Brief from client
The client showed me examples of different logos and styles that they liked, and asked for the logo to be in black and white only.
I joined the F and T together and also edited the bottom T so that the 5ifty could sit lower down. I also straightened up the whole logo a bit, its still not 100% straight because i tried it 100% straight and it didn't quite look right. all comments welcome =)

I want to suggest something here, if you don't mind... How about making a top loop of the 8 bigger then lower bottom loop of the 5 and loop it thru the top loop of the 8 - so, the 5 will hold the 8 - that way it will be another connection ? Try it out and see if that will add more twist to it and a character. Just a thought that I have instantly even looking at a first version. Tremendous art work and my two thumbs up!! P.S. My bad - you already done that in your color version at a bottom of that page. Yeah, I like that much better with a sub text on each side of g - way to go! That would be my preference if I would be a client.
very good, i find it a little tilted to the left, dont know if it s my perception or it really is....
if you put a grid behind the logo you will find out that it is infact slightly tilted to the right! i no what you mean though.. i had it tilted more to the right originally but Charlie pointed out that the letters were not straight then so i tried to find a happy medium between the first version and having each letter perfectly straight with this version, i may have to look at this again. thanks

Now that I look at it, maybe the problem of the character not looking really straight is that the shear angle is too high. Reduce it a few notches and see how it work.
Beside that, good job on that ligature.
M@, hello, wonder if you try to loop a tail from y in " fifty " all the way to the left and make the 8 out of it and then bottom of the 5 thru a top of the 8 and see how is that would play in? I checked your image and it is leaning to the left a tiny bit.
