Modern Style

Brief from client
A friend who needs your barberishop logo and according to the widely used modern cuts.
I like the typeface chosen for the main wordmark but that's where the positivity ends for me. The scissors here look more like swords and honestly, we've seen the scissors motif worked into salon identities many times already.
The flat black is preferred over the bevelled, colored treatment. There's something about simple black that exudes more class than fancy layer styles.
If you managed to come up with this on your own then I'm positive you can think of a better solution by pulling out the sketchbook for a couple hours. Perhaps a customized typeface? If you're bent on using scissors in the logo then you'll need to come up with something highly creative to stand out from the many other designers that have already done the same thing.
i actually have to give you kudos for having some creativity here..yes the scissors thing is overdone, but i think what you did is kindof clever.
That said, I like the black and white version much better than the color and I would just work at trying to refine it a bit and make it less clunky..the whole thing looks a little too thick for me, but don't give up on it. Agree with g13 that Barberia is too close..that jumped at me right away.
Scissors are not working like this and those 'nice' gradients, bevels and drop shadows are just making this look mediocre.
NO MORE PHOTOSHOP FILTERS FOR YOU!
If you are serious about designing a logo, use Illustrator.
i agree from the above said.you almost there the creativity and idea is good,.but you need to make it simple, what if your symbol rather your scissor take it out of the word, like "symbol + modern style barbaria".and one thing make this versitile.

Sorry- this is too aggressive and off balance for my liking.
The text treatment on the right doesn't work.
Barbaria is too close to the symbol.
You could try using the O and D as handles for the scissors and not using it in the word "style". But I have a feeling this isn't going to work.
Maybe flip the scissors and once again leaving them out of the word STYLE.
But, again- I don't think it is going to work out.
Looks like the edges of the scissors are out.
I'd like to see a barber shop logo that doesn't involve any of the instruments proper of the industry. Including the striped barber's pole.
Find a modern looking font, maybe digital, and work around it.
