Brief from client
we are a small hotel, we want a clean logo possibly abstract or typographic but quite simple and recognisable.
let me know whats working and whats not. i know the colours may be a bit off as i was not too sure what colour scheme to go with. also let me know if the type works.

Should that double N look like something?
Because to me it looks like a lying sack barrow.
I think the Northern Nights and Hotel should differ even more.
That icon doesn't have any weight.
first off, you should probably spell Northern correctly..hehe
Simple is good, but this is a little boring..the northern nights font is a real yawner..maybe find a nice sans serif font for the whole thing. That N symbol isn't really working for me either although i can appreciate you tried something unique.
I like it... But it's not quite working- and honestly I'm not sure why.
I know the type isn't working, or the colors...But I like the symbol. Maybe it's what luenib said about the weight.
Maybe if it was a thin font with a light color (not these colors)?
That icon won't work, luenib is right, it's just too thin and too square to be paired with the typography you used.
You need a better idea for an icon.
