Patriotic Power Logo Design

Brief from client

Patriotic Power wanted a logo that represented everything "American"

This concept is too busy for my taste but the client seem to really like it. The client wanted this logo to say "freedom", "liberty", and "American". Where this logo is obvious in it's approach (a little too much maybe) it still says everything the client requested.

I'm not a fan of the wings. They look like picked from a vector stock images.

I agree and they were stock. The bell and type are original.

The entire logo is way too detailed with too many small little lines! Reproduction will be an absolute nightmare! The white lines on the wings will fill in without a doubt. SIMPLIFY the entire logo. Lose the detail on the top of the bell.... you don't have to show it so literally to the original to know that it's the Liberty Bell. The bell shape and the crack and the "T" shape up top should be enough without all the edge highlights. I'd also lose the rays within the bell. I don't think they are needed or add to the symbol. Other than those comments, the rest looks good.

I agree with most you are saying here. I absolutely love simplistic designs. Some of the elements you describe changing or eliminated come from client compromise. Thank you for your comment!

I understand all about client wants and needs and demands, trust me..... but as a designer, it's up to you to convince them that they don't know what they're talking about! lol.... You're trying to save them money in reprinting their job here! :P

If they print those wings with all those little lines say on a business card or letterhead, it's going to look like a dog's breakfast and they won't be happy Bob! Not happy!! lol

Its up to you as the designer to not give the client all the things that they ask for. Otherwise you end up with this. Its not bad but its not good either. I can tell you didnt have your heart into this and it was pretty much about the money. I don't blame you.

Here in Portugal we call these customer requests, "swallowing frogs." Fortunately in matters of logos I've never had to swallow any, but the rest of the work of advertising, swallow almost daily.

I'll agree, way to busy. The colours, blue on red, with white ground... I'll give it an okay. But the Liberty bell in my opinion is not a positive symbol. A cracked bell is a symbol of failure. A cracked bell does not work, at least like it should. I do like that you've made the crack look like lightning and that you made it strike the I in patriotic. You're type could be a bit larger in proportion to the symbol.
