Definitely not a spam.

I like this logo though I'm a bit worried on how the symbols is going to behave on different mediums and background.

Not a fan of the dull red and blue color scheme.

There is a lot of spam on this website.

You client brief did sound like you were promoting the product, not explaining the logo or idea. (The use of 'we' being the key culprit)

That is probably why they thought that.
