Gigafrost | Wed, 02/19/2014 - 01:57
Brief from client
Something silly
Geared towards middle aged men
Poppy, eye catching, limited colors
Bowling related
Deflated the text and removed the extra elements. Put the symbol in the fore front as well. All critique is welcomed.
this is cool but i actually liked the first version, i thought it was a "fun" layout for a sports team that seems to encompass the "fun" in the sport
i think both versions work great tho!
if you have a flyer or something throw v.1 on it, have a t-shirt or something else slap v.2 on it. both work well :) n i think you should and could use both versions :)
Thanks for the feedback! That was exactly my thought in terms of the first version, as some sort of bannerish design. But I guess this one would be better being that it's focus is more on the logo and not on the text (which is what I guess shawali's point was) And yes I caught that upon submission with the 2014's kerning. Great catch! I will upload another sometime today.
I like it, it is a cool idea.
I think the stroke on the beard makes it look too thick, also the colour of the hair can have little more contrast against the pin colour (just a thought).
That s really nice! But I also think that the stroke on the beard is too thick. But maybe if you put the stroke on the pin behind the beard will look better. :)
This is not really happening for me, still. The font and the symbol don't really gel together. Mainly because the symbol is vertical and the font horizontal.
Why don't you try to have the text INSIDE the symbol? #mindblown =)
That being said, you really got your own style, which is really cool.
Thanks for the feedback shawali, Oooo that would pose a challenge considering the narrowness of the symbol wouldn't it? Nonetheless though I'm intrigued to see how that would look. Back to the drawing board! :D
I fucking love the dude's chain and medallion. Cracked me up. It pleasantly reminds me of Carl from the show Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
I think I'm with everybody on the stroke around the beard but overall I like it. It's fun and clever and it would make a good shirt. I do still think Shawali has a good point about the text. this layout wouldn't work as a stand alone logo but it certainly has it's uses.
Thanks Jon! And yes Carl would be the perfect archetype for my target audience! I suppose I was holding back on referencing all my childhood memories of such a great show XD.

The kerning on 2014 seems a little off to me too.

Interesting, thanks for the feedback guys, I will take note of the beard and stroke in the next revision.
