Brief from client
we want a clean logo which is reflective of our mosaics company.
Im not too fond of the logo mark as such, but i believe you lot can give me tips on what to change.
I also chose a single colour blue because I wanted to portray a royal colour although it may look like a hospital colour theme.

Yep. reminds me of a "Hospital ahead" sign. Blame the frame, not the color.
I see you want to make a "b" with tiles. That's a trend many mosaic and tile companies use. The difference is that most logos of this type of business are symmetric. This "b" looks like a mitten.
The all-capped "BERKSDALE" looks too dull. Some treatment to it would help, like small caps or capitalizing only the first letter.
I think the symbol definitely needs work. Hard not to go with a literal approach- mosaic "B". But, executed well with an original font it would look nice.

The symbol is confusing. Is it trying to be something else besides a b? I think you need a better idea. Hope to see it here as a new version.
Try loosing the the background so it doesnt look like a sign. If you are set on doing a mosaic B I suggest you do a capital be and try to make it a little more elaborate because right now it looks like a giant thumbs up
