Brett Burge Design

Brief from client

Design logo

I have been working full time for the last 11 years for a number of companies working in pre-press, graphic design and desktop publishing. I am just starting to do my own thing. Any feedback would be appreciated.

It's not bad, and definitely shows quality worksmanship, but just feels... typical to me. What is the idea behind it? What are you trying to convey with the calligraphic swirl?

I slept on it and decided it looked too much like the intel logo

I like this iteration of it. the word design might be a bit too small and light, but I like this direction.

Again I slept on it and think it looks too COKE. I think I'm getting somewhere... what about this one? I agree with the size of design. I don't think I'm quite there yet.

This one is best so far in my opinion. The word "Burge" goes slightly uphill due to the "bounce" in the script- you can easily move the "e" down a bit on the baseline to fix that. It becomes noticeable because "design" is straight, under it- but that was exactly where I planned to suggest you put it! It is a bit small still. Could maybe make it a tad bolder, or all caps, to make it stand out better.

I also think your swoosh should end similar to the letters, without that little bob at the end.

Definite progress on this! Good job.

I think the first one isn't too bad if you just adjust the tail thickness. I think it dramatically thick at the end and way to thin in the middle. Also, i would add some thickness (as mentioned above) to 'design'.

Some solid advice thanks

the initial concept you had works the best. the few additional iterations seem forced and the subtext seems out of place.
