Brief from client
Client bakes cakes and cup cakes. ( weddings, birthdays, showers, retirement (etc.) wanted polka--dots/ liked the color pink(clients all ages, local clients- this is a part-time job for the client, clients nickname is "Boo".

Client wanted simple and eye catching, easily identified, used for labels on boxes, flyers, business cards, t-shirts etc. It will stand the test time (10 yrs) client has a facebook page, no web page set

Photoshop?
the logo was done in illustrator, I presented the logo in black & white in the beginning. She wanted polka dots. The client knew what she wanted, shadows, wanted the text to have a shape, liked the bevel affect. ( I did approximately 15 drafts)
Never use the bevel/emboss effect. Nor the drop shadow effect. Don't use Photoshop at all.
The colors do say "bakery", so that's a good point, though that pink looks a bit dull.
looks like pink cheese... I agree with shawali, and then the type looks off centre.
I think you really thought about this. You obviously cared about the design and the client. But I think you kind of got caught up in that. If you want "Simple, Eye-catching, and easily identified," it's probably a good idea to start with a design that translates easily into black and white or ONE shade of pink and white (Think coca-cola's red and white) Later you can add a bit more color and even add minimal details, but make sure the logo will be striking even if your client gets it in only two colors.
Definitely shouldn't have drop shadow or bevel. This really lacks a stage of development. It looks more like you drew an oval and used a stock font hoping that photoshop would save you. Back up to the beginning. Make it black and white to start. All logos need to be able to communicate from their simplest form first. Start there, make it strong, and you may just end up surprising yourself.
I would prefer one more calligraphic old font, without bevel and shadow.
all of the above.
maybe you should have given some more time for the idea to sink in. this is not at all visually simple, too many elements.
elements, meaning drop shadow, bevel, outer glow
