I think you're on the right track to a nice idea, however I'm not sold on this solution.
First, the dollar sign within the "O" feels unnecessary. It reduces simplicity and (to a very small extent) readability. Plus, it's rarely a good idea to combine symbols and letters, despite the popular trend to do so.
This goes hand in hand with the symbol beneath it (pun totally intended): in a similar fashion, it doesn't feel like it belongs there other than to illustrate the handling of finances with the literal depiction of holding money. Maybe if the combination of the O/$ combo was less subtle, it could maybe work. But again, this only makes everything more claustrophobic. Case in point: the hand is overlapping the box with "financial."
Overall, I could see the overall typography working. Heck, it reminds me of "Geico" a bit, and that can be associated with finance in a sense. I'm sure there are others that have that sort of font treatment. This is not necessarily a good or bad thing, but be aware that this makes your job of setting it apart from the crowd that much more important, which I believe you can certainly do. Plus, the dollar sign is a bit too obvious of a solution with money. Therein lies the challenge of logo design with commonly used imagery.
I think the idea is there, I would just spend time addressing the closeness of everything, and rethinking the dollar sign thing. Good luck.
Thank you for the input, you have some great points and very helpful info. for me to think about. Appreciate the time.
Along with the above^^^
the crudely drawn hand looks like its been stuck onto that bar. Especially with the tiny little stroke. It doesn't mesh well.
