Can you loose the shadow and gradient, then re-post let's see how it looks?

Definitely get rid of the shadow and it should be able to stand on it's own without the gradient. My biggest problem is the composition is all over the place. It just doesn't have any unity, like each element is going a different direction. I think the symbol needs to be refined more and I would not use the vertical type.
