Now this is a logo. But not a very good one, unfortunately. Not that it's horrible or breaks every single rule of graphic design. It just looks like you didn't spend more than 10 min working on it. There's no particular idea and it feels very bland and lazy.
To design a good logo, you need go through a whole creative process that, to make it short, starts with:
- research: what are the trends in that particular business, what is the competition, what are they doing with their own identity...
- sketching: the most important part of all. Sketch hundreds of ideas. When you identify something you like, keep refining it again and again. Sketching is also the longest part, but this is where the magic happens.
- benchmarking: see what ideas of yours work the best and gather the most positive feedback.
- and then, and only then, execution on the computer, preferably using Illustrator. It can also be a time consuming task, but this where you can fine tune all these little details that make the difference between an OK logo and a great one.
Especially for a beginner, creating a logo directly on the computer is a pitfall. You basically let the software dictates what you can do, thus drastically limiting your creativity. With sketching, the only limits are your own, which you can keep pushing with work and dedication.
