Dallas Stars entry contest new logo identity NHL

Brief from client

Contest entry for NHL Dallas Stars rebranding.

Made a stylized " D " out of a flag of Texas with a hockey puck resting on top of it with a lone star.

try taking this logo to the top view, make it more sporty with stars? Texas is hardcore america so you can't lose there. The logo translates poorly with the current execution, but it does look nice as a piece of art.

Well, it IS the "Lone Star State."

How many sports team logo contests are there? I can't remember hearing about more than one, ever.

That is true. Okay then:

Your ability to find obscure sports team logo design contests is exemplary.

Why? It's not like you listen to us anyway, whether or not it's something you want to hear.

I would simplify the design, indeed do a top view will improve it. drop the "gold" outline and try to find a colour tone from the red and bleu that does not conflict with the green or the other colours. and drop all the outlines from the lone star too

The perspective is way off, and the "D" is hidden too much.

You're also using way too many colors.
