I presume idea was to repeat letters in the name in a form of an abstract graphic mark.
Final result is not really good. It looks messy and overly complex. Typography part and execution are fine.

Well, is it supposed to spell "Design" or "DDS"?

You did one- the brief says to do the other.

i don't see "design" spelled out. i see DDS. it's confusing to the eye in my opinion
