Brief from client
Just a little startup I've been wanting to get going. Been working on different ideas for a week or two and this is where I'd like for the designing eye to start helping me shape, color, and arrange. Thanks in advance.
This is a good start- but it needs some work. The logo should be left aligned (division sits farther left than three) to give it balance. The EE/3 is kinda cool, but the colors are sort of ketchup and mustard. Color plays a big part in conveying message. You should look up color theory and what colors represent what moods. That will help.
The font choices are a bit boring. The 3 words on the right are way to tight, with a tall font it makes it uncomfortable to read. As well, that font does not compliment the other. And the tight next to the loose tracking of Division and Three is a bit distracting.
Look at this logo small and the 3 words to the left are pretty much unreadable.
You have some bones here- just need to work on fonts and color, and find a nice legible way to lay them out together.
Good luck =)
Also, I'm not sure much sketching went into this before you created on screen- Don't skip that valuable step!!! Even uploading sketches for critique can be helpful!
A logo should start with a pencil and paper! Always! =)
Thanks for the input. I came off the ketchup & mustard. Not sure if I've gone in a better direction, but changed colors. Changed layout. Focused a little more on the 3 part by sectioning it off with a background color. Haven't really gotten inspired playing around with different fonts. Still have to work on that part. Just wondering if I'm going in a better direction??? Couldn't figure out how to highlight the 3d perspective structure with the E3 tried with greenish/yellowish lights??? Ready for more direction and guidance.
I think this is a much better layout than before. I'm not feeling the "yellow" in the E3 but I think the other colors are much better than the red/yellow you had. In this 3rd version you are losing the 3d effect because the middle bars are not touching I think. On the 2nd version, how would it look if you kept the blue inside the letter on the blue side and orange on the orange side?
Also, I think Three should be the same width as lettering above and below (if you decide to remove the box), and be careful with the E3 symbol poking up into Division.
(although I tend to like the layout with the box better at the moment)
" R " in " THREE " should be more blocky/squarish type to be uniform with a general idea of concrete construction concept here. Then if you look at your building made of two " E's " facing each other - what if you made a left side of " THR " and a right side of " EE " keeping all in perspective. What do you think ?

You are definitely making progress! =)
Consider uploading your new one as a "version 2" so you can get others feed back as well!
