Dock SQ Design

Brief from client

My target audience is middle-to-upper-end homeowners in New England. They are smart and demanding, but not too formal. They expect quality, but they don't usually like pretention.
My objectives are to create a logo that is striking and memorable and that creates a connection between the coastal lifestyle that many New Englanders enjoy and their enjoyment of their own homes.

Here is my idea for the above brief. This building is very famous in this area (New England) but stripped to it's basic form to get rid of the New England tourist feel.

Buster,

Taking into consideration your target demographic, this looks like a great fit!

Pros:
1. Unique concept, nice departure from the norm
2. Distinct font that can be identified without the mark when necessarily
3. Striking, bold colors that are easily transferable to other design elements and nicely balanced

Suggestions:
1. The text could use some further tweaking to make it fit more consistently within the horizontal space.
2. The roof (on both sides, especially on the right side) barely sticks out - this detail will be lost entirely when the logo is reduced (which will be often).
3. Consider a variant for black and white use, and tiny sizes like for website favicons.

Don't be afraid to go with something unique (this)! We live in a world of copycats. To be set apart, your logo has to be different.
