Brief from client
My own logo, very different from my previous submission. Let me know if this is working better then the previous.
it'll just look boring like that then wouldn't it. and as for the NBC feathers I didn't feel that it had that edge to it, hence the reason i changed my idea.
It's not about boring or wowing. It's about readable, memorable, meaningful, and describable.
Take a look at Unilever, Honda, QuickTime, Xerox, Miramax, and Realtor. All of them have single letter logos that are memorable. Find some examples and get some inspiration, then get back to pencil and paper and create your own design.
I don't think this will work. It lacks natural flow and instant impact. Color scheme is pretty bland and I would suggest to either go for a simple b&w or to use stronger highlight color.
Graphic mark is definitely a step forward in the right direction in comparison to the previous one. It reminds me of the DE STIJL constructivist art & architecture style but.... it's a bit rough atm and needs more work.
If you want to go 'constructivist' way you will need to check some background on that style and start 'reducing'.
And just for the record.... what's up with the alignment? Why not have the bottom and top of the mark align with the text? I'm actually interested if there was a reason for it being off center and out of line..?
My first impression would have been more positive if it was all in alignment.
I think it makes the mark more gawky than it actually is.
Not to be dick.. just occurred to me the difference it made to my eye. : )

If you got scared by the "NBC peacock feathers" you can at least salvage the rest of the design.
Use a single color on the symbol, remove the frame and I'll be able to see the "E"

Making your own logo sucks, huh??? It's like you can't even see it from an outside perspective.
That said.. I think the mark is interesting, but a little complicated.
The rest is simple and readable, but a bit boring..
You may be able to salvage this mark by simplifying it...?
keep at it, something will click.
