Brief from client
A redesigned logo was needed for a print/design co. since the current logo appears dated and misleading.

I get the tie in with the registration marks but the bevel/emboss needs to go and the registration marks themselves are overly complicated, especially when you consider having to print this thing. The kerning is way too tight and random as well. Develop an idea without all the effects first and then start playing around. Good luck.
I agree with Jon, this is not looking good all.
It's not so much the kerning you have a problem with, though it's way off, but it's the whole tracking you need to revise.
Also, never use the bevel/emboss filter, it just makes your logo look amateurish.
I'm not a fan of the registration marks. The kinda look like targets.
Do they print in RGB or in CMYK? So it should show all four colours if you want to use the marks as symbols for printing. And as Shawali wrote, they look like targets, like the crosshairs in the logo of the German TV series “Tatort".
