Brief from client
To rebrand of my personal design site. I have been doing freelance for a few years and am finding my nitch doing poster designs and relaunching.

GraphicsWard, is a play on my name, what I do and where I do it. The icon represents a map with parks in the shape of the G to symbolize the ease of working with me in the crowded city of design and advertising. I wanted to keep the text as simple and readable as possible as fonts on a map would be.

when just looking at the logo it looks like a tiling or mosaics company. definitely not a designer. and also with such a simple graphic mark such as that the typeface needs to be a lot more unique.
Yea I'm not getting maps from this either. Definitely something got to do with mosaic, maybe text specialists or something. Nice idea but I think you'll have to do some more research on what makes maps look like maps, colour schemes stroke widths ect. Maybe even try including details like motorways or railway tracks to strengthen your concept.
Just another thought for you, how about using subway maps as inspiration? That would get across your concept equally well and might also be more aesthetically pleasing.
