Brief from client
this will be my logo
art and creativity for hire, I'm now a "mercenary". art for money.
Hah! This is great, the idea is just awesome! The execution is nice as well. It just needs a little bit more polishing.
I agree about the splatter you put on the upper right corner i would get rid of that. Doesn't really add anything else than confusion. The creativity for hire is indeed a bit on the small side but i wouldn't span it to the with of the logo you don't wanna emphasize on both of your wordmarks. "Appeal and real in". Just make it a tad bigger and you're good to go.
yea i really like this idea too! I would definitely take the splatter out though, its only going to cause you problems in the future with production. 'Creativity for hire' needs to be a bit bigger and i would center it to make it look more uniform. Maybe try opening up the tracking on it so it spans the width of 'Art Mercenary' without making the point size bigger than 'Art Mercenary'
Love the style and cleanliness of this! and your background totally reminds me of a pattern I did a while back that I used for my freelance stuff thats actually in my profile pic on here! I was even going the same direction you've got here with my brands logo I'm working on! Started with black and white to get the logo part down and my next step was to basically post exactly what your first post is! The logo with the custom camo background! anyway Your logo looks great! its nice and bold and I like you choice of font as well! it compliments the logo well!

Funnily enough, that how I describe myself when people ask me if i'm an artist =)
It looks pretty good, but I agree with others: the splatter has to go. It's gimmicky, adds nothing to the general concept and only complicates things.
You should also have several iterations of your logo, with different compositions, for flexibility's sake.
There is a logo here?
What is everyone talking about?
I don't see anything!!!
... oh... camouflage...
Seriously though, it doesn't need the white splotch.
Make Creativity for higher bigger, and call it done I think!
