Jewelry Design logo

Brief from client

Client makes handcrafted, one of a kind, jewelry and art pieces.
Geotique Designs is the name (geology+boutique)
Simple logo, handcrafted or organic feel, must include symbol Kcc

Initials are KCC, which makes the symbol, used a somewhat geometric font for name, hand drawn type for "designs." Tried to maintain same line weights throughout.
Advice and thoughts are welcome!

I quite like this. It definitely has the look of something you'd find at a farmer's market setup that has artist vendors selling their work. I like how you worked the KCC in without being obvious with it. I like how you lined up designs to align to the left of the first E and right of the U in GEOTIQUE. My one critique would be to work a little more on refining the hand lettering. It looks pretty good in general, and I think a little imperfection will add to the hand done look, but it could use a tad more consistency. Most notably, I'm looking at the tail on the e. Nice work.

Thank you- I do see what you mean about the lettering.
And I don't know if its just me, but does "designs" appear to slant downward? I've checked it with guides, and it doesn't! But something seems off and I can't quite put my finger on it.

my guess is the accender on the d since there are no tall letters on the right side.

I think the reason it appears to slant downward is just an optical illusion due to the fact that the "d" goes up, the "g" descends, and the end of the word doesn't do either. I'm not sure how you can get around that, except maybe making the text a lot looser and more stylized so there is more variation in height. It might help a little if you moved the KCC part up and the designs word down a little bit, to provide more space for the eye to rest. This is really nice, overall! I like how the symbol looks a bit like some shoulders with a double necklace - fits with the jewelry theme.

designs does look a little crooked. Don't just depend on your guides. Sometimes you have to go by eye. I think this is one of those times. Trust your eyes, you are a designer after all ☺
