Brief from client
To design a logo for a kids garment company, it needs to be simple, fun and soft colored.
I tried to resemble a smily face, used small caps to represent simplicity and used childish colors.

Hmmm not sure where to start here.. For starters i am heavily convinced this would look better without the curved rectangle underneath the colored letters. But i understand you're looking to do a fun gimmick with your logo, but as it stands now especially with the text in the curved rectangle it looks cheap. As far as colors go i think you might be on the right track. Dont be afraid to use lines just because you want to keep it simple. Maybe make the outline of a face and use line work as support for what you want? for example like the zwitsal logo. its simple, cute and for kids.

The curved rectangle I have used is to compliment the overall shape of a smily face.
You know what? I'm liking this. This is not the greatest logo ever, but it does the job, it's simple yet elegant.

I too like this! i just dislike the colour used on the "l" it looks a bit dirty.. maybe try a light green instead
